The Executive Secretariat of International Affairs (SAI), operates in three areas: International Relations, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Attraction. It aims to promote, guide and coordinate the activities that represent the administrative interests of the State and, when requested, the municipalities and society of Santa Catarina. It promotes, guides and coordinates the international actions of the State Public Administration agencies and entities, especially regarding protocols, agreements and international contracts, as well as developing relationship activities with the Consular Corps.
It articulates the government actions related to international integration, especially with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), to monitor the policies and guidelines of the Union for foreign trade affairs, as well as the activities of the other States and the Federal District regarding policies to encourage foreign investment.
Plans and executes activities of competitive and commercial intelligence, in the search of data, information and knowledge indispensable to the promotion of State and the attraction of foreign investments, also organize and coordinate, in conjunction with the Military House Secretariat, the agenda of international missions, receptions and events, and also develop political and administrative integration activities in its area of competence.
Welcome to the SAI
In the year 2000, Brazil became the first country in the world to have an official Bolshoi Ballet Academy school outside Russia. Located in Joinville, Santa Catarina, it had its investment attraction carried out by the SAI’s team.
This year, the Secretariat of International Affairs was instituted as an official body of the Government of Santa Catarina, linked to the Governor’s Office.
Santa Catarina was the first state to receive the International Certification as a foot-and-mouth disease free zone without vaccination, as well as a swine flu free zone.
Through a covenant with France, Santa Catarina received a unit of École Nationale d'Amanistration - I'Ena France (I'Ena Brazil).
The first edition of SC Day took place this year, which is a seminar created by SAI aimed at representatives of the economic area of consulates, embassies, chambers of commerce and foreign investment support offices.
