SC delegation visits Arab giant in the port operations sector and Itajaí is on the agenda
Santa Catarina’s delegation led by governor Jorginho Mello visited DP World, in the United Arab Emirates, this Tuesday morning (20). The company is considered a giant in the field of port operations, handling 10% of all cargo transported in the world.
During the visit, the potential for investments in the Santa Catarina sector were presented by the governor. At the end of the meeting, the operator’s representatives said that they know Santa Catarina and that they intend to participate in the dispute for the operation of the Port of Itajaí, on the North Coast.
“This presentation that we are showing of the state here in the United Arab Emirates is fundamental so that companies that make large investments can feel secure and, mainly, that there is space and great business opportunities in Santa Catarina. We have many challenges to be overcome, but to do so we have to go out and look for solutions around the world” stated Governor Jorginho Mello.
DP World (Dubai Ports World) has been expanding its operations in the Arabian Gulf and is gaining more and more space with its large logistics hub in Dubai. The company has the capacity to store 1 million cars and 12 thousand trucks in containers. In addition, it delivers to more than 3 billion people on the planet every year.
The meeting was also attended by the president of the Legislative Assembly, Mauro de Nadal, the secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Juliano Froehner, of Finance, Cleverson Siewert, deputy Antidio Lunelli and representatives of the Brazilian embassy in the United Arab Emirates.
